Our contracts
We agree NHS standard contracts with the organisations that provide health services on our behalf.
These contracts include details of the performance standards and levels of quality that we expect for our patients. In general, the majority of our contracts – including nearly all hospital services - are reviewed and negotiated annually with our providers.

Contract sanctions
When providers fail to deliver services to the standards we agree in their NHS standard contract we issue them with fines or 'sanctions'. You can see a list of contract sanctions below:
