Carers Rights Day Coffee Morning

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

On Thursday 21 November, local charity Sefton Carers Centre will be holding a special Carers Rights Day Coffee Morning to help unpaid carers understand their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.

The event is being held between 10am – 12pm at the centre, 27-37 South Road, Waterloo, L22 5PE and there will be free copies of the 2019 Carers UK Guide available for all carers.

Every day 6,000 people in the United Kingdom become carers, something few have been able to plan for. Sefton Carers Centre offers free advice and guidance, emotional and practical support, training and a range of holistic therapies for unpaid carers living in Sefton.

Vicky Keeley, CEO of Sefton Carers Centre, said: “It’s extremely important that unpaid carers know their rights and events like this offer the opportunity for carers to speak to staff and find out about the help available to them.

“We offer free Carers Assessments to carers in Sefton to help identify their needs and offer support in their caring role. If you’re unable to attend the event please visit our website or give us a call.”

Staff will be available from the Parent Carers, Young Carers and Carer Support teams throughout the morning, as well as partner organisations including the Living Well Sefton Carers Support Team and Sefton Advocacy.

Sefton Advocacy is an independent charity that works throughout Sefton to help people get their voice heard and make choices to maintain control over their life.

Andrew Booth, CEO of Sefton Advocacy said: “Advocacy works alongside people, we provide a voice for vulnerable individuals or we support their own voices to be heard in decisions that affect their lives.”
