Sefton residents have given The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust the thumbs up when it comes to treatment and staff attitude.

The Lower Lane-based hospital scored top marks in the Feedback Report compiled by Healthwatch Sefton, the local independent health and social care champion, after engaging with patients, visitors and staff at the hospital over a two-month period last summer.

Positive comments were given when it came to the standard of treatment and care with people saying: “It is a very good service. They explain everything in depth. I have learnt more today than I have going to any other hospital.”

While staff attitudes also rated highly with those who provided feedback to Healthwatch Sefton stating that the staff were “fantastic”, “out of this world” and “they explain everything”.

In an overall positive report, there was one recommendation and that was in connection to a lack of communication which the Trust has taken action to resolve.

Mark McKenna, Head of Patient Experience, responded to the Feedback Report by saying: “With regards to the recommendation about communication (particularly relating to letters to patients), this has been an area where we have taken action to improve the content of appointment letters. The feedback we have received is that letters are now clearer for patients, however, this is something that we are continuing to monitor.”
